Comic 5: 5 mph

I'm so sorry about the long...month long break. But I needed that, I think! And now I have a new, improved drive to draw this comic!

Not updated on Sunday because I'll be doing a lot of packing on Sunday.

If you readers have any ideas that you'd like to see become reality for Catusp mugs and the like, do tell me! I'll take your suggestions and see if I can make something of them! Yes, that's my not-so-subtle way of saying that I have no idea what to do for those things. Maybe a set of four seasons mugs or something?

STUFF!!

So I'm sorry for falling behind on comics, but now that the school semester is over I can really catch up.

Also, I'm making a Cafe Press store for stuff with my art on it. Mostly so I can have a set of coasters with my characters on them, but for anyone else who wants them as well. :3

Nothing there yet, but there will be...

Oh Man I Can't Believe it...

...I'm delaying the comic again. Great Expectations closed this weekend, so it was a busy one, and now that I'm done I've found myself too tired to even have any creative thoughts at all. BUT the play's over now, so the comics in the future should all be ontime! Perhaps later this evening I'll post some sketches of mine~

Oh Yeah...

Please do note that I made a new banner. I'm proud. AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO DRAW ANY NEW PICTURES!!! Oh Photoshop, I do love you.

That's all.

#4: Woe

The new comic! See, I told you I'd put it up today! Great Expectations (See Jeremy Latham Davies' vlog) opened last week and I was too tired to ink straight. So I decided to post a day late and give you a nicer looking comic! Ain't I nice?? :D

This comic is based on a true story of how I broke my glasses. "Based" meaning loosely inspired by. I ran facefirst into my front door on Weds, and the hinge broke off on one side. Eheh.

Enjoy! And comments are always welcome!

Very Slight Delay

I actually do have the comic penciled and half inked. But with how busy this week has been, and after performing again today, I'm far too tired to ink this thing without screwing it up. So I'll finish and post it tomorrow. Consider it quality control! I really don't want to post a bad comic...

Doodletime #2

I'm going to conclude this busy day with a sketch from my book! Its a little blurry on the edge, but that's what happens when you scan from a thick book. I just wanted to show evidence that I can draw something other than cats and snakes, eheheheh. Have a good week all, I'm going to be busy all week.

By the way, this is a slightly older version of one of my human characters, a girl named Eclair.

#3: Abracadabra!

Catsup number three! This week's strip was based off of something that really happened to Catsup's biggest fan, a friend I have named Blanket. Apparently, her professor really did say something like this. I thought it was perfect for Catsup!

This strip really shows Catsup's imagination at work. He's a lot like me, his mind wanders while in class. I don't think a class has ever had my full attention. Not even an art class...

Enjoy the strip! See, I told you I'd post two today! And now I'm all caught up, and ready to stay on track!

#2: Bologna!

EDIT: I am so stupid. I was looking at it and realized that I forgot to color Crystal's nose. You probably didn't notice, but I reuploaded it anyway. Because things like that bother me.

Comic number two! Again, I'm sorry about it being so late. But I was sick, after all...

This comic marks the first appearance of Snake! He's a very loving character, and doesn't talk much. Drawing this strip reminded me of why I love these cats so much--their facial expressions can be so, so strange. Like Catsup's in panel four. At least, I find it amusing. Hahahaha...

Now that last week's is up, I'll post this week's later today. Until then, have fun with this!

Apologies (the sick blog)

For those who wondered where last week's comic was, I'll tell you. Its in my backpack, waiting to be scanned. I have been very, very sick since last Thursday, and was too ill last weekend to draw a comic. But I'm getting better, and this weekend I'll post last week's and a new one for this week! Yay, right?

I'm sorry...but I promise I'll make it up to you! For serious! I was so sick I couldn't play Half Life 2! Yeah!

Since tomorrow's tech day for Great Expectations, the comics will be up on Sunday.

#1: Art Class

Comic one is up! And I know its small, but I think if you click it you get to see the full version...? We'll see...

This is the first Catsup I've done in years, forgive me if the characters are wonky. I need to get used to drawing them again! Also the first one ever scanned in and colored on the computer. I kinda like the look, it reminds me of newspaper strips.

As with all my comics, this was drawn on bristol board with ink. My pens have been weird latley, so I just used a tech pen, but I will soon go back to pen nibs and india ink, my favorite media ever. So so so when I finished the drawing, and was all set to scan it in, my scanner wouldn't connect to my computer! Oh no, right? And then I got it to connect...and it wouldn't scan. But it worked after being unplugged and re-plugged, so all is good. And you probably didn't need that boring story, but I told you anyway. So there.

Anyways, this didn't take as long as I thought. Maybe I'll update every Sunday night?

Doodletimetm

While digging through my pile o' art bits, I found some doodles from various classes. I think all of these are fairly recent, as they were near the top of the heap. Yes, there is a heap. And I thought, "hey, I should put these on Catsup's blog." And I did. I think I'll continue this, too, as not everything I doodle has Catsup in it.

Enjoy!

Under Construction!

Well, hi! Welcome to the new home of Catsup Comix! Admittedly, the old home never had anything on it and only, like, two people knew of it, but that is a thing of the past.

For those who do not know, Catsup is a comic that I created when I was in the sixth grade. I honestly woke up one morning and said, "well, I'm 11 now: time to start my comic!" And I sat down and created four cartoon characters, all cats. There was Catsup (the sad part is that at the time I didn't know that catsup is another word for ketchup. I just thought it was cool.) the silver american shorthair, Jules (named after Jules Verne, an idea from my aunt) the lilac point siamese, Crystal the cream persian, and a fourth cat, some abysinnian whose name I can't remember but it was probably really stupid. I don't remember him because...he never survived even to the end of the creation of the first comic. The other three remained, Catsup being the slightly stupid and very silly protagonist, Jules the brainiac who has been known to lapse into "typical boy stupidity" from time to time, and Crystal the sole girl, and a bit of a snot at that. I drew the stories of these characters as one page comics during classes in middle school. Within a few months I had drafted a few of my friends to draw the comic with me, and over time more and more characters were created. The fourth main character came out of a comic I had drawn with my friend Connie, who really should be credited with creating him, and he is a small green snake that wears bows. He was originally the object of a "snake-in-a-can-birthday-present" gag, who just loves Catsup--who is coincidentally afraid of snakes. But as more time passed he grew to be a main character--and a lover of pink bows, and he always wears one. The other creators of Catsup stopped drawing his adventures with me once we got into high school, with the exception of my best friend Shelley who continued to draw him in our freshman and sophomore french classes. But I believe that Catsup has always been and always will be my comic, and I view the characters as old friends.

The purpose of this blog is for me to show Catsup and company to the world, and to give me motivation to actually draw comics more often. The banner is a rough, and will change soon because I already can't stand to look at it, and I will post new stories, remakes of old stories, and pictures from the past. Along with the occasional random sketch of the cast, of course. I need something to do in history class!

That said, I hope you enjoy the comics to come, and feel free to comment on them all you want ( Constructive Criticism and all that) and poke me when I don't do anything. Because I'm laaazyyy!
